Who hasn’t heard of the adorable bear Winnie the Pooh? His wisdom can guide a kid from childhood straight into adulthood and beyond! So I share with you some important life lessons courtesy of Winnie and the rest of the gang from Aker woods 🙂
Don’t Get Bogged Down in Details
“You can’t help respecting anybody who can spell TUESDAY, even if he doesn’t spell it right; but spelling isn’t everything. There are days when spelling Tuesday simply doesn’t count.”
Let’s not make the classic mistake of spending too much time nitpicking or making mountains of molehills. It’s better to relax instead and focus on the positive things we have and want in our lives. It’s time to keep our attention on that and work towards it. The days may seem long but the years are often pretty short. So let’s live them instead of constantly inspecting, criticizing or over thinking them.
Be Proactive. Take the Initiative.
“You can’t always sit in your corner of the forest and wait for people to come to you… you have to go to them sometimes.”
It’s easy to get locked into a reactive mindset.
“Always watch where you are going. Otherwise, you may step on a piece of the Forest that was left out by mistake.”
We often tend to just follow along with whatever is happening and do what the people around us do, and so, we get lost in these circumstances. This way of thinking doesn’t feel too good. We tend to feel powerless and like we’re just drifting along in life but being proactive is another way of going about such things. To be the one who makes the first initiative and to take the lead. It’s not always easy though. We’ll have to get out of our comfort zone and it can feel scary. Let’s take it one small step at a time and change our reactive attitude into a proactive one.
Keep Conversations Simple and Positive.
“Before beginning a Hunt, it is wise to ask someone what you are looking for before you begin looking for it.”
“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like “What about lunch?””
What do people want in conversations and relationships? Long-winded negative babbling? Or, positive focused talks where it is interesting to listen, communicate and exchange ideas? Although the answer probably varies but most people generally prefer the latter.
Do Nothing Once in a While.
“Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.”
Although it feels good to work towards our dreams and doing the things that we love but things definitely tend to go better when there’s a balance.
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”
Let’s take some time each day to do pretty much nothing, spend sometime with only our own self either by going for a walk alone or just looking around – anything! By doing so, we unload our minds. We feel relaxed and so life feels less burdensome and we feel inspired to work better.
Appreciate the Little Things.
“Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.”
Daily happiness is to a large part about appreciating the small things.
“Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon.”
If we just allow ourselves to be happy when accomplishing a big goal or when we have some great luck then we are making life harder than it needs to be. Appreciating those things like the food, weather, health, friends&family, the opportunity to be able to read and write, our ownself can be alot better and can uncover the happiness that is already in our daily life.
Be Patient.
“If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”
Wait.
Be Considerate of Others.
“Just because an animal is large, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t want kindness; however big Tigger seems to be, remember that he wants as much kindness as Roo.”
“A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference.”
Be Silly and Take Care of Yourself and Spread Love 😀
“If you want to make a song more hummy, add a few tiddely poms.”
“A bear, however hard he tries, grows tubby without exercise.”
i so love this, Khushboo.

“What day is it,?” asked Pooh.
“It’s today,” replied Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.
Beautiful indeed! Thank you so much for sharing it with us 🙂

Did Whinnie the bear pooh really had that insight? Quite a marvel this bear was and I though he just sat on a tree making jokes, that was disappointing…….
I have to chip in my two cents, be active take the initiative for sure if your sitting home waiting for things to occur nothing will happen YOU have to make them occur.
What you said about asking someone what you are looking for before you start looking for I do have to respectfully disagree since it´s only you who must know yourself enough to know what you want and then have the drive to go out and get it.
About keeping thins simple, or sentences. In some cases it is necessary. If I´m working for someone and he says he wants this or that and I have no clue what he means, I used to say ” tomorrow in the morning you´ll have it solved.”people want results not your life pain and misery or whatever is going on in your head. But if it gets to chatting up a girl….I do have to expand the vocabulary 😉 Sorry had to get that last part out.

I know right! This Pooh is such a wise bear!
Oh what I meant by it…or wait, actually what Pooh probably meant by “Before beginning a Hunt, it is wise to ask someone what you are looking for before you begin looking for it” is that know both sides of a person or anything before forming an opinion/judgement. Ofcourse I agree with what you said – nobody can know you better than yourself and it’s you who has to go after what you want!
Hahaha..yes, the expanding the vocabulary part might just play the trick for certain people..I complimented you on your humor right? 😉
Oh and of course, I hope you’re beginning to take the initiative for whatever you want to make happen 🙂
I love your comments! 😀

You don´t need to compliment me on my humour, the tragic thing of it is that it comes out naturally. I´m just a goofball. Someone has to be in the town, might as well take the torch.
Anyways, it was a good thoughtful and entertaining post.

Another lovely post, Khushboo. Do you know Milne’s book of poems “When We were very Young?” The poems express so many of the values you underscore here. Thanks for a great start to the day.
