“As I Began To Love Myself”

Sharing this beautiful poem by one of the most admired persons, Charlie Chaplin.

As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering
are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth.
Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody
As I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time
was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this
person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”.

As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life,
and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow.
Today I call it “MATURITY”.

As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance,
I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens
at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm.
Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.

As I began to love myself I quit steeling my own time,
and I stopped designing huge projects for the future.
Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do
and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in
my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for
my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew
me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude
a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.

As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since
I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry
about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING
is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.

As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me
and it can make me sick. But As I connected it to my heart, my
mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this
connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.

We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems
with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing
new worlds are born.Today I know THAT IS “LIFE”!

Hope you’re all doing well.
Love and Peace ❤

The 3 Magical Words

So, it’s Valentine’s Day soon- a gentle reminder of what is important in life – Love! Thanks to the 5th century Saint Valentinus for this. 😉

The first thing I’m gonna do when I wake up tomorrow (and I suggest you do the same) will be to stand in front of the mirror, look at myself and say “I Love You” aloud and realize what it truly means. It means that I accept you for the person that you are, and that I do not wish to change you into someone else. It means that I will love you and stand by you even through the worst of times. It means loving you when you’re in a bad mood, or too tired to do the things that I want to do. It means loving you when you’re down, not just when you’re fun to be with. I love you means that I know your deepest secrets and do not judge you for them. It means that I care enough to fight for what we have and I love you enough not to let go. It means that your presence is very important for me we’ll happily live this life together.

Take a moment to appreciate how awesome you are. Yeah, YOU! 🙂

Wondering why do this? Well, once you accept yourself for who you are, completely and wholly love your being, you begin to attract the same someone who will actually mean these 3 magical words for you and you’ll begin to experience the real magic together!

I wanted to share some quotes from these amazing people :

“Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.”- Aristotle

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”- Lao Tzu

“My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite.”- William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

“Age does not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age.”- Anais Nin

“Love does not dominate; it cultivates.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.” – Zora Neale Hurston

“I have learned not to worry about love; but to honor its coming with all my heart.” – Alice Walker

“Love is the expansion of two natures in such a way that each includes the other, each enriches the other.”

Come on now what are you waiting for? Go ahead and let your wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend or ‘anyone you secretly are in love with’ know what they mean to you. Celebrate this day of love with love ❤

And all those people of my league (you know what I mean), the law of attraction will work at the right time, till then be in love with yourself! 😉 😀

25 Life Lessons from Albert Einstein!

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Albert Einstein is one of my most favourite persons from history and here I share these 25 life lessons from this great individual. 🙂

1. Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.

2. Everyone should be respected as an individual, but no one idolized.

3. Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it.

4. If people are good mostly only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

5. A perfection of means, and confusion of aims, seems to be our main problem.

6. Love is a better teacher than duty.

7. If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.

8. No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.

9. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

10. Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.

11. It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.

12. Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.

13. Force always attracts men of low morality.

14. Everything should be as simple as it is, but not simpler.

15. A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.

16. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.

17. A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.

18. It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.

19. Anyone who doesn’t take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.

20. Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.

21. Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.

22. Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.

23. Anger dwells only in the bosom of fools.

24. Information is not knowledge.

25. Never lose a holy curiosity.

So, focus on the present and live in the moment, not let your imagination cease, follow your curiousity with priceless perseverance, learning from mistakes and  creating value, experience will give knowledge, just learn the rules and then play better! 😀

Have, Believe, Move!

To become what we want, we need to at least HAVE five of these qualities to MOVE forward.

1. COURAGE and HARD-WORK

Courage is not the absence of fear but the acquired ability to move beyond fear and discouragement.

Courage doesn’t always roar, sometimes it is the little voice at the end of the day that says…”I’ll try again tomorrow.”
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage! And of course, there’s no substitute for hard-work.

2. WILL – POWER and STRENGTH

Strength and will-power are closely linked. Because strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will. And it’s not that some people have will-power and some do not. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.

But it’s worth it. Right?

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength!

3. DETERMINATION/PERSEVERANCE

The difference between the possible and the impossible lies in a person’s determination.

I didn’t mean that!

Determination gives you the resolve to keep going inspite of the road-blocks that lay before you!

4. SELF-DISCIPLINE

Self discipline is when your conscience tells you to do something and you don’t talk back!

Don’t we oftentimes do something like that?
or this?

But, we must know that self-discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment!

5. FAITH

faith

My favourite lines on faith – “Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible!”

willpower

We just need to BELIEVE in ourselves and remember –

success

Don’t Stop

Over the years we’ve created a set of beliefs in our mind that we hold to be true.  Some are indeed helpful and true, while others have completely fooled us.  It’s these latter, beliefs that quietly hinder our potential and hold us back from the life we are capable of living.

Some such beliefs are :

1.  Life owes me something.

Just because we’re alive doesn’t mean life is going to hand everything to us.
Life doesn’t just get better by itself.  It isn’t like flying in a plane through turbulence.  Life doesn’t just improve if we fasten our seat belt and wait.
Sadly, so many people expect that a great life is coming to them automatically.  They believe it’ll come next month or next year.  So they continue thinking the same thoughts and doing the same things, just waiting for that day when life will get better.
They come home from school/college/work, heat up a microwave dinner and sit on the couch for hours watching TV.  They get on the Internet and spend entire evenings getting nothing done.  They keeping hoping and praying for a change without ever taking action.
When we were in school, we got a trophy if we played sports.  It didn’t matter if we were the leading scorer or the leading benchwarmer.  Now is a bit different.  We don’t get trophies anymore for just showing up.  We have to earn them.
If we keep believing life will somehow automatically improve on it’s own, then we’re going to waste many years of our life in a state of disappointment.
It’s up to us to decide how we want to be.  We are the ones that determines the quality of our lives.  It is not the people around us, our bosses, our teachers, the government, or anyone else.  If we are serious about being healthy, wealthy, successful, respected and loved, then we are going to have to do something about it.
No one is going to give us the life we dream about except We Ourselves.
Let this be our wake-up call. Let’s take full control of our life, starting now!

2.  The universe is out to get me.

It seems like life has gone wrong for us in every imaginable way.  We can’t catch a break.  We don’t know why other people are successful and happy, but we’re not.  We believe the universe is somehow working against us.
The truth is the universe doesn’t care about us one bit.  That might sound harsh, but it’s true.  The universe isn’t out to get us.  We aren’t cursed.  We don’t have bad karma following us around.
Why would the universe choose us to be the unlucky one?  It wouldn’t and it hasn’t.  We are all born with a chance to live a full and happy life.  It’s up to us to use the resources the universe has given us – the ones we have right now within ourselves.
If we have an unlucky streak, it’s because we are choosing our own reality with the thoughts in our head and the action we take or don’t take.  If the universe really picked sides, those who grew up poor would always remain poor while the rich would always remain rich.  Obviously this is not true.  There have been many rags to riches stories, and stories of those who have grown up rich and lost everything.
We must understand the universe isn’t out to get us.  It wants us to be happy and succeed, but we’ve got to go out and create our own opportunities for happiness.
To start changing how we view the world, we can start a gratitude journal (like I’m doing right now) by writing down three things that we’re thankful for every day.  What this does is to get us in the habit of focusing on what we do have in life – the good, instead of what we do not – the bad.

I was just finished watching this animated movie called ‘Brave’. And the lines spoken by the lead role at the end caught my attention – “Fate lies within us. We only have to be brave enough to see it!” It sure is worth a thought.

3.  I am stuck in my current life situation.

Humans are the only creatures on this planet that can choose to change their life situation at any moment.  A shark can’t one day decide to be a chef.  An ant can’t decide it wants to be a dancer.  Their lives are built into their DNA.
We, on the other hand, can change if we want to.  Oftentimes the only problem is that the fear of change holds us back.  Excuses keep piling up.  We only remember the times we failed, and this memory scares us off from trying again.  We feel hopelessly stuck in life.
What we need to realize is that life isn’t meant to be a straight line that goes from point A to point B.  Life is meant to be a series of zigs and zags.  It should look like a mess, but a beautiful mess.  It shows that we have changed throughout the course of our lives.  We’ve had our ups and downs.  We went down one path, but decided to change course… perhaps on many occasions.
That’s how life should be.  Life is a continuous experience of independent present moments and choices.  So whatever situation we are in right now, we should  just know that it can change if we want it to.
It’s up to us.  We  just have to choose something new.

4.  It’s too late to start anything.

How old would we think we are if we didn’t know and couldn’t see ourselves in the mirror?
Age is just a number (Read the story here).  What’s important is how we feel.
The only reason we think it’s too late to start is because that’s what we’ve grown up believing.  We believe that we should have everything figured out in life before we reach 20, 30, 40, 50, etc.  The older we get, the less opportunity we think we have to do something new.
From my observations, I’ve realized that people think they have to cram everything in before the general retirement age of 65.  After that, it’s time to play golf, work on their garden, travel, and play with the grand kids.  This simply isn’t true.

If we’re determined to do something, it’s NEVER too late to start.  Here are some famous examples of people who started late.

  • Ray Croc was 59 years old when he bought out the McDonald’s brothers.  He turned it into an empire.
  • Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man was 40 when he began drawing these legendary superheroes.  He’s now 90 years old and makes a cameo in every movie based on his comic books.
  • Julia Child didn’t even learn to cook until she was almost 40 and didn’t launch her popular show until she was 50.
  • Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken was 66 when he began to promote his style of cooking and create an empire.

Can we imagine if anyone of them thought it was too late to start?  They wouldn’t have created their best life’s work! We must not let age stop us from going after your dreams. We must do it now.

5. Others will think what I’m doing is foolish.

We worry so much about other people’s opinion.  We’re afraid we will get laughed at.  We don’t want people to reject our ideas.  We don’t want to look like a fool.  What we need to realize now is that  none of this matters!
At the end of our lives when we look back, what we want to remember is a journey that makes us smile.  Regardless of what everyone else thinks of us, if we’ve followed our intuition and done our best, win or lose, We won’t regret a thing.

There have been so many crazy ideas that even the so-called experts thought was a bad idea.  That did not stop these people:

  • J.K. Rowling was penniless, recently divorced, and raising a child on her own.  She wrote the first Harry Potter book on an old manual typewriter.  Twelve publishers rejected the manuscript.  A year later she was given the green light by Barry Cunningham from Bloomsbury, who agreed to publish the book but insisted she get a day job cause there was no money in children’s books.  The series has sold 450 million copies and made J.K Rowling a billionaire.  So much for publishers who told her, “There’s no money in children’s books.”
  • Can you imagine a gentleman telling you he wants to build a massive theme park where families can spend time together in a hot Florida swamp?  You might not think it’s too crazy now.  However when Walt Disney wanted to build Disney World, he was rejected for financing over 300 times.
  • The Beatles were rejected by many record labels.  In a famously quoted rejection letter, a music label said, “Guitar groups are on the way out” and “the Beatles have no future in show business.”  Shortly thereafter the Beatles signed with EMI, brought Beatlemania to the United States, and became the most influential band in the history of rock and roll.

These are just three examples, but there are countless more.  Each person involved was ahead of his or her time, but they didn’t let other people’s opinions stop them.   There sue have been things we’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t because we’re worried about what others will think or of being rejected.  Let these stories inspire us to realize that good fortune favors the bold.

Finally,

If any of us suffer from one or more of these false beliefs, it’s time to make a change.  When we were kids we didn’t believe these untruths, but as we’ve grown up they have been given more power simply because we have given them more attention.  By doing so, we have slowly become our own worst enemies!

Let’s take back control of our lives now.  We can do that by shattering these beliefs and choosing to take positive action today.

Now it’s your turn…

What’s one belief that has slowed you down and held you back in life? Feel free to share your thoughts 🙂

*MUSIC*

I returned home from my guitar practice and couldn’t think of something different to do. I decided to sketch. And I sketched the picture of a guitar.

Yes!! I sketched it…!!CAM00000

As I was lost in self-admiration (I’m not that good an artist), I realized just how much do I love music! Yes, I know I’ve always enjoyed it but this time I was wondering what would I do if it simply didn’t exist? What would we all do? And wrote this….

Music is the spice of life
Adding interest, variety, verve
It makes us happy and touches our soul
And inspires us to rock and roll.

We laugh and cry and jump and twist
Music wipes away sorrow, there’s no cloud or mist.
It transforms us from one state to another
It soothes us just like the arms of our own mother.

Just when our worries start to increase,
Music is what brings the mind back to peace!
Life without music would be no life at all,
The absence of music would make it gray and fall.

So, enliven up your day, with just a song,
And may your lives be lovely and long!

Speaking is a lesson in learning how to listen;

Listening is a lesson in learning how to speak.

Those who always speak don’t always listen;

Those who always listen don’t always speak.

2

A working society is a society that gains and therefore works

A society working purely for material gain works against society

Help yourself, but first, help others to help themselves, and then you will automatically be helping yourself

A nation is similar to a club. It has members who abide by its identity, rules and customs that make it unique.

A club can easily be transformed into its weapon form – the club;

Excluding and elitist, held high and proud, and brutally brought down to attack and suppress an outsider.

A nation of individuals must take steps to avoid becoming the club.

5

Constantly examining the past breeds depression

Constantly examining the future breeds speculation

The relief for both is to live presently anticipating

6

True love is like when two sets of eyes meet with instant recognition preceding passion;

They penetrate and merge together, yearning for touch;

The two souls blend and experience endlessness in the transient moment.

Trying to say hinders the spoken waterfall

When speech is effortless, you are riding the waterfall

Simultaneously conquering fear and expressing delight

Our Limits Vs Us

I found this another really inspiring video like the BE PHENOMENAL video I had shared earlier (it can be viewed by clicking the link).

It’s so amazing that each one of possesses the ability and unmeasurable strength to do all that we want to and all that we can think of but we are so unaware! We all want to do it and give it a try but we are afraid of being held back, of getting hurt, of failing, or even being laughed at!
But why? We only learn from failing and we must remember that we ourselves are responsible for our lives. Nobody else is going to live it for us, then why should we care about how the others are going to react? Believe it or not, even those who laugh or stop us, really wish deep inside that they had the same courage as us! Then why not try and do what you truly want to! If we succeed – excellent – and if we don’t – at least we tried and we now know our faults to try better the next time!

Let’s get out of this mind trap.
Let’s not be afraid of going in the right direction.
Let’s challenge our limits and not limit our challenges!
Life is what you make it!
Enjoy 🙂

Remembering Leo Tolstoy

Leo Tolstoy is the among most renowned and celebrated writers and philosophers. I thought of sharing some of his quotes here with you today. They are worth a thought 🙂

“There is no greatness where there is no simplicity, goodness and truth.”

“The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.”

“All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love.”

“If you want to be happy, BE !”

“We lost because we told ourselves we lost.”

“True life is lived when tiny changes occur.”

“Joy can only be real if people look upon their life as a service and have a definite object in life outside themselves and their personal happiness.”

“Music is the shorthand of emotion.”

“To say that a work of art is good, but incomprehensible to the majority of men, is the same as saying of some kind of food that is very good but most people can’t eat it.”

“It is amazing how complete is the delusion that beauty is goodness.”

I hope you had a good time reading these 🙂
